Interfaith Spiritual Care
Compassionate presence during times of acute stress, illness, loss, or crisis.
What Is Spiritual Care?
Spiritual care is closely related to spiritual counseling—yet it is more focused on space-holding during times of crisis or health challenges.
It offers compassionate support that attends to a person’s inner needs, including questions about meaning, purpose, hope, and faith. Especially during times of illness or emotional distress, spiritual care honors a person’s beliefs and values while helping them reconnect to their sense of transcendence or connectedness to something larger than themselves.
This work is grounded in deep listening, presence, and respect for each individual’s spiritual path.

When Is Spiritual Care Helpful?
Spiritual Care may be especially supportive during times such as:
-
Medical Diagnosis or Health Crisis
-
Grief & Loss
-
Divorce or Relationship Transitions
-
End-of-Life Support
-
Other Periods of Emotional or Spiritual Distress
These moments often invite profound questions and emotions. Spiritual care provides compassionate companionship and grounding when stability feels fragile.
“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, or an honest compliment—all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” -Leo Buscaglia

Presence in Life’s Most Tender Moments
Rev. James offers spiritual care through an interfaith lens—honoring the Divine as known by many names and approached through many paths.
Whether someone identifies as religious, spiritual but not religious, questioning, or unsure of what they believe, this work honors their unique experience and values. Spiritual care offers presence, compassion, and dignity during life’s most vulnerable seasons.
If you or a loved one are navigating a health challenge, loss, or significant life disruption, I invite you to begin with a simple conversation.
