About Rev. James Ashton
Ordained Interfaith Minister and Professional Life Coach
James Ashton is an ordained interfaith minister and professional life coach with a deep calling to support the spiritual needs of others, particularly older adults navigating the challenges and blessings of elderhood. Rev. James offers spiritual counseling, compassionate spiritual care, and ceremony officiation for meaningful life transitions. He also enjoys facilitating group programs that foster heart-centered community and shared reflection.
With more than a decade of study in psychology and interfaith spiritual studies, James brings a broad foundation of knowledge and lived experience to clients seeking positive change in their lives. His transition into this work was profoundly shaped by serving as a caregiver—on and off for over ten years—to his parents and a stepparent, an experience that deepened his compassion and grounded his vocational path.

Raised in the Protestant Christian tradition, Rev. James’s spiritual journey has been shaped by a series of profound mystical experiences. Through these, he has come to understand the Divine Source of the Universe as loving and intelligent—known by many names and approached through many paths. He identifies as a Christian mystic and is also deeply influenced by the teachings of the Buddha and other great wisdom teachers across diverse faith traditions.
James is widely regarded for his professionalism, compassion, and innate ability to facilitate transformative learning and thoughtful dialogue. He completed his life coach training through an International Coach Federation–certified program and was ordained through One Spirit Learning Alliance, a two-year interfaith seminary program.
James lives in Marblehead, Massachusetts, with his husband, Peyton, and their dog, Charlie.
